Green

A Green mortgage aims to reduce negative impact on our environment. The lenders that offer this package will often make contributions to charities that support the environment or the welfare of the less fortunate. Some will only finance houses that are seen to be environmentally sound. Most lenders will not work with businesses that are known to pollute or damage the environment in any way.

At present there are a limited number of lenders offering a ‘green mortgage'. The ones that do all support reforestation schemes, so that you know when you take out a mortgage with them you are helping the environment. Also some schemes will monitor household emissions and energy usage, saving money on bills and causing less damage to the environment.
